Artist Statement
My work alternates between that of a personal nature, such as autobiographical pieces about my Italian heritage, and that of universal concerns, such as the environment and world politics. My art is usually mixed media, such as combining painting and/or photography with objects both constructed and found.
My most recent body of work is of photographs that are taken very close-up (macro-photography) or of scenes and objects where the focus has been concentrated in one selected area.
I feel that art has always been for me an avenue of expression of my feelings and thoughts, an intuitive interpretation of the world around me. I believe that this is a vital expression for me, as well as an essential expression for all cultures, and all of humanity in general. It is my view that art, as well as music and literature, is the soul of a society and is extremely important because of its universal, intuitive manner of communication.
